Vladimir Marcu’s work revolves around the idea that it is not the painter who commands the painting: it is the eye. It could be the eye of the viewer or that of the painter. While he designs and builds a picture, he switches very frequently between the role of painter and that of viewer. The viewer is a very fickle character, and will always dictate to the painter what ends up on the support.
